Counseling for Grief & Loss
I’m dedicated to helping women understand the layered stories of their lives.
Losing a loved one is a profound loss.
I know what it’s like to lose someone you love.
Years ago, I lost my spouse.
I heard a great analogy for what that pain is like. Grief was a ball, bouncing inside a box. In that box there was also a “pain” button. Initially, when the griefgreif event is still fresh, the grief ball takes up nearly all the space andan is always pressing against that “pain” button. But over time, with some distance and some care, the grief ball does shrink. It never fully goes away and it can still surprise you with a hit to the “pain” button, but the constant pain does eventually subside.
That new way of thinking about pain was helpful to me. In sessions, I can offer other ways to think about your own experiences too. Unlike speaking with a friend, I’ll be bringing more than just my experiences to draw from. I offer formal education, certification, and all my experience working with clients to help you get through this difficult time.
My work is all about coming alongside you to create a safe and gentle place where you can sit, breathe, reflect and re-discover yourself, your dreams, longings and desires. You can express feelings whether they might be sadness, anger, regret, or anything else that may come up.
I want to champion you to tell your stories, explore how you felt loved and challenged by the loved one you lost. Sometimes a loss can leave a lot of complicated emotions and unresolved feelings. Together, we can identify old patterns and beliefs which are limiting your growth and happiness and provide new insights and acceptance to push the fears and doubt away. This enables you to revise these stories to make room for a more powerful, authentic and beautiful self.
